The Family and Child Education (FACE) program was started in 1990 by the Bureau of Indian Education. Designed as a family literacy program for American Indian families, FACE integrates language and culture to better prepare children on rural reservations for school.

My experience is that I opened up more. I learned to talk to a group. I used to be shy. Now I am open to everybody. It taught me what my grandma used to do. I told my family about the time I talked at the training, and they said it was a good thing.
